Top Five of the Week

This week has been a pretty darn good week if I say so myself. See for yourself:

1. Little Surprises

Ray and I have been having a hard time doing our usual date nights where we go out and have fun with or without Mady due to our schedules. I get up and leave by 8am and don't get home till after 5pm. By that time I'm tired and all I want to do is cuddle up on the couch with Mady and Ray and watch a nice movie while I attempt my homework. Ray works at nights and so he has to leave at 9pm, which usually means a quick power nap before he starts. So we get about a couple hours together. Anyways I woke up one morning to this - which totally made my day. And if your wondering, yes, it was heavenly!

2. Tender Mercies

A couple of weeks ago my Professor gave us some information for a possible job for a CPA firm up north looking to hire. I thought, "Why not?" and applied. The same day I sent in my resume and cover letter, the guy emailed me back saying that his firm wasn't hiring but the firm he shared the building with was. BIG MISTAKE! He was kind enough to tell me that he would forward my resume on and good luck. Because all my letters and stuff were directed specifically to him, I dismissed the embarrassing mistake and forgot all about it. Then last Thursday as I was I headed down to St. George with Ray, Mady and my good friend KayLa, I received a call from the partner of this other firm. He told me he was headed down to St. George and was wondering if he could stop in Cedar to interview me. I was beyond shocked. We agreed to meet up in St. George, seeing how I was on my way there, and planned an interview at his GORGEOUS vacation house. A little insert here - KayLa let me borrow some of her clothes seeing how I wasn't dressed for an interview and we had already left my house. Huge thanks to her! The interview went perfectly and he wanted me to come up for a second interview with the other partner. That happens this Tuesday. So stay tuned!

3. An Amazing Dad

I can't not stop talking about what a perfect husband I caught. Seriously. He is amazing. As you know he has been working nights. After a particularly long night, with hardly any sleep, he wanted to badly to come to St. George with me on Thursday (see above). He knew KayLa and I had planned to go shopping, so he offered to take Mady to the water park. Amazing, no? And not only did he do that, but while I was at my interview, he took Mady to the temple. She was so ecstatic! She is obsessed with temples, so seeing one up close was so awesome for her. I'd upload the video of her freaking out, but it won't work. So this picture will suffice. 

4. Ephraim
This weekend was so awesome. I decided I really wanted to go home for the four day weekend and after having my interview and knowing I needed to go up for the other interview that just made my justification into a need. So Mady and I packed up, left the hubby, and jumped in the car with my friend Alicia. I loved being with my family. And Ephraim - oh how I have missed you. The Scandinavian Festival was going on as well, despite the AWFUL, COLD, MISERABLE weather. I did get some cute cheap jewelry to make up for it, though. My family then headed out today to visit our family's graves and head to up Idaho, where most of our family is. They dropped me off at Ray's parents place, where I was treated to a delicious meal. I love my families!

5. More Surprises!
Ray worked all last night and didn't get home until 6am. He then got up at 10 to get to Church and speak in Sacrement ( which I am SO bummed I missed) and then leave right after to go back to work until 9pm that night. So he wasn't going to come until Monday early afternoon so he could have a nice good nights rest. So it was a big surprise when he called me around seven saying he got off work early and was already on the road. I LOVE these kind of surprises! Especially when I haven't seen him for a few days - yes call me pathetic. Oh, and don't mind my grunge look. So if you excuse me now, I must go spend some time wtih my honey. Happy Memorial Day!!

My top TEN Friday's'

Yes, I know I've skipped two weeks but to be frank, I just wasn't in a blogging mood. But I will update on what's been going on these past two weeks in no particular order:

1. Grey's Anatomy

Can I just say how much I am addicted to this show?! It's getting just a tad bit ridiculous. You can blame this on why I haven't blogged, why my house looks the way it does, why I can't do anything until the episode is finished, and so on and so forth.

2. Going Home

We went home just the weekend of Mother's day and goodness it was wonderful! We spent our weekend up in Lindon visiting Ray's family. Mady loved being outside, I'm pretty sure she spent more time outside than in. It was so nice being there. Ray was also kind enough on Sunday to drive to my parents house and spend time with them. We ended up not leaving until late in the evening we were having so much fun. It was such a wonderful Mother's day weekend to be able to spend it with both our families.

3. Mother's Day

      Mother's day is such a special time for me. It always has been while growing up. I always remember my Dad making sure each of us kids knew our jobs for the day - whether it was cooking, dressing the younger kids, or just lending a hand when needed. Now that I'm older, this day has grown even closer to my heart as I see more and more what an amazing Mother my Mom truly is. I can't thank her enough for the unconditional love and service she has shown me over the years. My life would be complete if I become at least half the women she is.

      I have also been blessed with not only one amazing mom in my life, but two. I married such an amazing man who was raised by such an amazing woman. Barb has been such a wonderful example to me and I am so lucky to have her an my Mother-in-Law. Thank you, both of you, for your continuing love and example. I love you guys so much!

4. Solar Eclipse

Did anyone else get to see the solar eclipse?? It was pretty cool, right? We had the perfect seating for the event. Our friend, Taylor, opened her house up to us and our family guests who came to see the awesomeness. She has a cabin just north of Kanaraville with two balconies. It was so fun to eat amazing food, watch the eclipse, and play some games. Thank you Taylor for an amazing night!

  5. Presents

Did I mention the amazing gifts I was given this past week? My sweet husband bought me a new X-Box, beautiful flowers and a lovely card, and an I-pod holder for running. He was also so sweet and made a delicious breakfast and got Mady all ready for Church. Pretty sure he won the most amazing husband award. Ray's parents gave me a Bosch bread maker. Most amazing thing EVER! I don't have to spend 5+ hours making bread anymore - it takes me one hour! Start to finish. New favorite toy! My family gave me a wonderful card full of money, my favorite treats, an I-pod, and some other cute things I can't remember. Thank you so much all of you! Totally made my day!

   6. BBQ

This is past weekend we celebrated the end of the school year with a BBQ with our awesome friends. Ray cooked some amazing chicken and our friends brought some delicious desert and dip. It was so perfect. It was so fun getting to know everyone better and playing some fun games. Hopefully we can do it again soon!

 

7. My Knee is Better!

For a while my knee hurt so bad. The pain was the pain you feel when you hit your funny bone - not pleasant.  I couldn't go down steps, and running was out of the question. I was so scared I was going to have to tell my team that I wouldn't be able to participate in the summer games with them. But finally after icing it pretty good for a while and staying off of it, it went away. I have no idea what it was but I sure am glad to be back to running and playing sports!

8. Sports

I just found out last week that my stake has not only basketball but volleyball too! They play twice a  week for a couple of hours and it has been so wonderful! For a long time I felt like I had lost a part of me, that being sports. Playing again has brought back so much happiness, I find myself happier all the time. I have also met so many great people. Can't wait till Wednesday!!

9. Mady

Mady has been so funny the past couple of weeks. She seriously is the joy of my life. I can't get enough of this girl! She is growing up way to quickly and learning way too fast. A few classic moments this week: Standing over her potty saying psssssss. After washing dishes saying, "Bye-bye bubbles, I love you." She loves Dora the Explorer and Yo Gabba Gabba. She will now actually say or do whatever they are doing. It pretty cute and we get a kick out of watching her.

10. Ray

Ray has been so amazing these past few weeks. My graduate program is very expensive and coming up with the money to finance me has been quite difficult. Due to my job working in SUU's Auditor Department and being able to only work the normal 8-5 shift, Ray has opted to work the night shift from 9pm-6am. Then he watches Mady until I get home at 5pm. Luckily we have a daughter who sleeps in until 10:30 for him. But everyday I come home to a happy baby and a clean house. He is seriously the best husband/dad ever. I don't know what I did to deserve such an amazing man. Thank you honey! I love you! Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed.

Top Five Friday

What a week! I am SO glad that we are at the end of it. I thought it would never get here. Here's my top five favorite things that happened this week:

1. Mady Came Home
After ten days of Mady being at my parents house in Ephraim, she is finally home! I have missed her SO much! We were able to get a lot of studying done, but it is super nice to have her home. I have been soaking her up! I love that she has to take my hand to show me a bug outside. Or bring a ton of books to me so I can read to her. Or go play outside with her for hours on end. Oh I have missed her! 

2. Going to the Temple
Yesterday, Ray finished his last final and I took off work early to celebrate the end of our semester. We headed down to St. George to share a wonderful date that involved a session, Red Lobster, and some shopping. It was so nice to do a session together, it has been awhile due to school, finding a babysitter for 4+ hours, and work. It was just what we needed with all the crazy things that have been going on in our lives.

  3. Graduation

The semester is over! Which means graduation! I was finished with my Bachelors in Accounting in December but because SUU only does graduation in the Spring, I can officially say I AM GRADUATED! I chose not to walk this year because I will be doing the same thing next spring, only I will be doing it with Ray. And I can't wait! I did however go support all my friends that graduated. Especially my bestest friend - this girly! Isn't she gorgeous? AND its also her birthday today! So here's a shout out to the most amazing gorgeous sweetest friend ever - Congrats KayLa and happy birthday!

1.      4. New Calling

  I was called into Young Women's just last week. I was quite nervous to say the least but after going on Sunday and to our Tuesday night activity I am super excited to be working with so many wonderful girls and leaders. One of the girls, Tabby, gave me a cute basket of goodies to welcome me. It was so sweet. I look forward to all the wonderful things that are in store with this calling!

 5. Time

       I am so happy to have TIME! I was able to go running and come home and clean my house. I made a delicious crockpot meal for dinner. I made bread. I spent a lot of time with Mady. And now I'm here in bed with my sweetheart watching a movie and blogging. The best part about doing all these awesome things is that I don't have the guilt I usually had while doing something that did not include homework. I will savor these few days I have before I start my summer classes.
